Biography

Enrico Heffler is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Consultant at the Personalised Medicine, Asthma and Allergy Unit at Humanitas University. He is also currently working as an allergist at the Personalised Medicine, Asthma and Allergy unit of the Scientific Institute for Research, Hospitalization and Healthcare Humanitas Clinical and Research Center, Milan. Dr Heffler completed his first degree in medicine and surgery at the University of Turin, Italy, specialising in allergy and clinical immunology. He then went on to complete a PhD in clinical and experimental medicine and a post-doctorate in allergy and clinical immunology. Dr Heffler has previously worked as an Assistant Professor in Respiratory Medicine at the University of Catania, Italy.

Dr Heffler has clinical interests in the field of inflammatory airway diseases, immunological mechanisms of allergic diseases, asthma, rhinitis, chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps, anaphylaxis and food allergy. He has a particular research interest in the inflammatory mechanism of severe asthma.

Dr Heffler is currently the Scientific Coordinator of the Italian Society of Allergy, Asthma and Clinical Immunology, the current President of the Italian Academy of Nasal Cytology, and an Immunotherapy Interest Group board member of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. Dr Heffler is an author of over 160 publications in international scientific journals.
